About David

A Journey of Purpose and Independence

David Ruzumna was born and raised in west L. A., where his early years shaped a strong sense of community and a curiosity about human behavior. He pursued his undergraduate studies at Humboldt State University, majoring in sociology — a field that deepened his understanding of societal structures and theories of justice.

After a year of reflection and exploration following college, David set his sights on a legal career. Law school not only marked the beginning of his professional journey but also a turning point in his personal life — it’s where he met the love of his life. In 1997, shortly after graduating and just before taking the bar exam, David proposed. He passed the bar, married, and launched a lifelong career in law.

David began practicing law at a small firm before establishing his own practice in 2000 — a bold move that reflects his entrepreneurial spirit and confidence in his convictions. Since then, he has built a respected solo practice grounded in diligence, ethics, and a client-first approach.

In 2012, David ran for Superior Court judge. Although he did not win the election, it opened the door to judicial service in a new way. That same year, he began working as a judge pro tem in King County District Court. His service quickly expanded into other courts in King and Snohomish counties, and over time he became a trusted judicial officer, often working, near full-time as a judge pro tem — a role that has made him a better attorney – having served on both sides of the bench.

Personal Values and Outlook

David’s story is not just about legal milestones — it’s about finding purpose through service, maintaining integrity in a complex profession, and balancing a thriving legal career with a fulfilling personal life. From courtroom to community, his path reflects a thoughtful blend of independence, dedication, and care for the people and systems he serves.
